I will be helping the kids to relax their body and take them into a story where they will go on a journey to discover a long lost secret. They will have to overcome a wicked witch, a fire breathing dragon and a gigantic troll using three special emotional gifts. Each child will go home with the piece of treasure they find in their dream. :o) x £2.50 per child.  The Happiness Centre, Ilkley, 32a Leeds Road

Meditation has been proven to help children become more attentive, help with anger and teaches the children to be calmer and more focused, and remarkably children love to meditate because it allows them to play with their imaginations!

I doubt there has ever been a time in my life when I have had so much intense work done in such a short space of time. Since joining the Happiness Centre I’ve been lucky enough to work with Carrie, Michael, Roxy, Charlotte and Maggie. I added Sandrine to my list this week and am so glad I did.

I love massage. To me it is one of the most effective therapies around simply because, as human beings, we require touch- or tactile stimulation- for our emotional and physical well-being.

I remember hearing a story in Psych 101 at Uni that has always remained with me. In the Renaissance a Prince decided to do an experiment with orphan children. He thought that if he removed the damaging influence of adults a baby could remain a tabula rasa (clean slate) – as close to God as a man could get. The trouble is that none of the children in the experiment survived long enough to prove his theory. Removing human contact from a baby was as good as starving it to death.

Experiments with monkeys in 1970s proved how important touch was to a child by showing how restricted the neurological connections could become if baby monkies were denied their mother’s touch. Those experiments led to a change in how orphanages in the USA, where there was a high incidence of infant mortality, where run. The survival rate of orphans increased exponentially when a systemized introduction of physical touch was introduced into those orphanages.

And the benefits of therapeutic touch are now well documented. Older people live longer and healthier lives if they have hand/foot massages or a pet to stroke. The benefits are both physical and emotional.

So there is a lot of truth in ‘A hug a day keeps the doctor away!’

I have noticed that I’ve had more massages at times in my life when I had no source of touch- when my kids had grown up or when I was not in a relationship. Massage grounds me, gets me out of my head and nurtures me.

Sandrine’s full body massage was the first I’d had in about six months. As money got tight the non-essentials, like regular massage, went by the way. This was absolutely the wrong thing to do because it’s in times of stress when you need that touch the most.

Anyone who meets Sandrine for the first time picks up on her gentle, grounded energy. She is softly spoken, with a French accent that lulls your auditory senses, while her hands lull the tactile senses. To intensify the sensory experience she also uses Aromatherapy Essential Oils so the olfactory senses are also stimulated. For me she used an uplifting blend of lemon, frankincense and rose.

In a candle-lit, warm room with soft music playing in the background, I got to totally let go of all my concerns and float away as Sandrine applied varying levels of touch from the barest effleurage to full length strokes using her lower arm as well as hand. (This reminded me of Hawaiian Temple Massage.) Each stroke created a different response in my body. At one stage I noticed I was smiling and I wasn’t even thinking about anything that would have made me smile.

Mine was not a remedial massage. There was no rigorous pounding or pressure exerted on my muscles or points. Everything was smooth and flowing and pleasurable. My body was lulled into a state of perfect ease and my mind obediently followed. I had no thoughts. My whole awareness was focused on my senses.

At one stage I was sure I could smell sandalwood. As I usually get a scent when a spirit drops by, I took this to mean I had a spiritual visitor adding his/her loving energy to what Sandrine and I were generating between us.

It was a long massage but it felt as if time flew. Before I knew it I was trying to get my very relaxed body into a sitting position again.

And the effects of the massage lasted well into the next week. I noticed I was sleeping better. There was less concern about pressing issues (but I think this was also helped by the work I did last week, too). My third eye started vibrating early one morning which was an interesting experience. And generally, after my body finished realigning itself, I felt great.

Sandrine is probably a little more expensive than people I have seen in the past, but she is well worth the money. I will be back for another massage soon.

Wednesday’s morning Goddess Meditation will be dedicated to Guinevere, who Doreen Virtue considers the face of True Love.

This is what Doreen Virtue has to say about this goddess:

‘This Celtic triple Goddess has ancient roots predating Arthurian times, when she was known as Gwenhwyfar. In her original form, her name meant ‘White One’ or ‘White Phantom’, and she was a powerful goddess involved in both fertility and as a brdge to take the dead to the afterlife plane.

During the times of Avalon, Glastonbury, and King Arthur, she became Guinevere. To become king, Arthur had to merge with, or marry, Gwenhwyfar, the goddess who ruled over the land. And so Gwenhwyar became the astonishingly beautiful Guinevere, the queen bride of the new King Arthur. Legend holds that her heart really belonged to Arthur’s cousin, Lancelot, however. Today, she helps us ensure that we enter into partnerships with our true love, and she assists in keeping that love alive.’

So if  love is important to you, whether you’ve found your focus for that loving energy or not, as yet, come and explore this Goddess in a Guided Visualisation that puts romantic love in perspective.

Homeopathy can be used to help a variety of different physical and emotional problems: The Happiness Centre Homeopath:

Marjorie Hanbidge MLCH: tel: 01943-601517 email: info@liftthespirithealthesoul.com When: by appointment

Homeopathy is a well tried and tested method, invented by Samuel Hahnemann about 200 years ago. It is used by the Royal Family and is still the medicine of choice in Germany.

It is used to treat all manner of complaints gently and effectively and I will aim to find the cause of your problem and treat you holistically, rather than treat the symptoms, which will recur until the cause is cured.

A first appointment will usually last for one and a half to two hours, when I would take your case and prescribe an initial remedy. The normal cost for this is £70, and £45 for a follow up appointment of one to one and a half hours, but until 31st July the first appointment will be £50 and the follow up will be £35.

With the Bio – resonance machine it is possible to determine which foods or environmental factors the patient is allergic to. This can be done from hair samples which can be particularly suitable for children and the elderly. It can also be used to make homeopathic remedies that are specific and unique for the person that is being treated. Charges for food or environmental allergy testing from hair samples, including a full report costs £45, with an introductory offer price of £35 until 31st July 2010. Both tests can be done for £80, with an introductory offer of £60.00 before 31st July 2010.
