There are two main ways that magnets can be used to speed recovery from injury and ill health. Magnets can either be placed directly on the body at the pain point or surround the body to improve the flow of blood to all areas.

By using magnet healing on specific points a whole range of common ailments can be treated such as back pain, sciatica, arthritis, rheumatism and sports injuries.

When the magnet is placed on and around the affected area any soft tissue will lengthen and help to relax the ligament or muscle that has been damaged or traumatised. Usually an injured site on the body, whether it be a sports injury or arthritis, is surrounded by swelling and inflammation. When a magnet is placed on the area and the muscle and tissue relaxes the blood flow that has been blocked from the damaged site is then allowed in and the body can start its own healing.

This means the body then ‘kick starts’ its own beta-endorphin (pain relieving) system.

The second way that magnets can be used on the body is to generally improve the flow of blood around the whole body. This is achieved when the molecules in the blood react to the magnetic energy field produced by the magnets.

How can science, when applied to your diet enhance your general wellbeing? Learn how, and discover the ways it may address specific health issues in an introductory workshop on 25th January 2012, 7:30pm at the Happiness Centre.

Nutritional Therapy is an individual-centred approach to healthcare, applying science to nutrition with the aim of promoting health and wellbeing. It uses dietary assessment to identify potential nutritional imbalances, and how these imbalances may contribute to certain symptoms.

The main objective of Nutritional Therapy is to achieve wellbeing and good health by balancing and maintaing the function, structure and energy processes of the body. This approach recognizes that diet and lifestyle are among the principle components of achieving and maintaining optimal health.

Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major body systems; skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, excretory, immune, reproductive and integumentary. Typical priorities in a nutritional therapy consultation are support to achieve optimal energy levels, healthy blood sugar balance, emotional and psychological wellbeing, optimum gastrointestinal health and tolerance to a broad range of food groups.

In an introductory talk to Nutritional Therapy, Becky Davies-Downes will explain how diet influences your wellbeing, and how Nutritional Therapy may be applied to promote optimum health. During the workshop, you will  be given  the opportunity to take part in a simple nutrient status test that will help to demonstrate how the process works.

Whether you simply wish to check you are on the right path with healthy eating, want to lose weight or you need some help with specific symptoms, this workshop will give you an insight into whether Nutritional Therapy may be for you.
