Crystal of the month of February – Rose Quartz

February has always been known as the month of Love. This is the time of year when we celebrate St Valentine’s Day, or, the feast of St Valentine, where we traditionally declare our undying love secretly or as in today’s world more openly. Cupid also is very busy during this time as he works along side St Valentine where he shoots his little arrow into the heart of your chosen one and makes the person fall head over heals in love with you.

For this month we have chosen Rose Quartz as our favourite crystal as it is well known as the stone of gentle, unconditional love. It teaches us how to love not only ourselves but all of those around us too. It opens up the heart centre to allow the feelings of true love to flow deep and wide.

But I hear you say, that is fine for those that are in a relationship already but how can Rose Quartz help me to find the love of my life. How can it attract a loving relationship to me???

Well we will let you into a little secret that has been proven to work in the past. Honestly. All you have to do is follow the instructions and believe.

Firstly take your chosen piece of rose quartz and cleanse it under running water and then leave it to recharge over night under the moonlight.

Then take a piece of A4 paper and draw a line down the centre. At the top of the left hand column write the word ‘Want’. At the top of the left hand column write the words ‘Don’t Want’.  Now this is where you can be as creative and imaginative as you want. Write down everything that you are looking for in a partner, and everything you don’t want also. You can list absolutely anything, from the colour of their hair to the type of car they may drive.  When you are happy with your lists, fold the piece of paper into 4 and place it in a safe place with your piece of rose quartz on top of it. And leave it alone. The only word of warning is be careful what you ask for as you may just be in for a shock.

When used in a healing environment it is especially beneficial to the physical heart and circulatory system. It is effective in the treatment of healing emotional wounds as it releases the negative energy that is stored in the heart chakra.

Crystal of the month of November – Mookite

The month of November reminds us that another year is nearly over as we start to think towards the coming year and all it is going to bring for us. This is a good month to reflect on what have been both the highlights and low lights of 2012 for us. To seriously think about what we would like to achieve for ourselves over the next 12 months and to allow our desire for new experiences to be reawakened.

This time Mookite has been chosen as our favourite crystal of the month as it has a wonderfully calming energy to carry with you during your daily life. One of its specialities is that is helps one to move forward in life with ease and gives the confidence to believe in your decision making process. It openly encourages balanced thoughts and allows you to remain flexible and honest with any new ideas you may have.

Mookite is an astonishing stone for those who feel they are alone or just lonely. It is also a great stone that is available to help those who are often kind to all others and forget about themselves and it reminds them to start to think of themselves in a kind and loving manner too.

Crystal of the Month for August – Amazonite

During the month of August the music festival season steps up a gear here in the UK and throughout Europe. Young and old alike, use this time to come together in one place to share the joys of listening to live music. Unfortunately though, not all of us are sensible and protect our hearing, as we know we should.

For this reason Amazonite has been chosen as our favourite crystal of the month. It is known as the ‘stone of communication’ and works to dissipate energy blockages in the throat chakra. As this chakra is responsible for some of our daily functions such as hearing, it is not surprising that so many blockages can occur in this area.

Amazonite works well on hearing and ear problems as it soothes muscle cramps thereby reducing the pain associated with earache.  It also works to balance our physical senses of hearing, smelling, and tasting, the 3 main ways that we receive information and gain pleasure during our lifetime.

Ladybirds for Kyle arrive at The Happiness Centre from the beach

 

A collection of the 200 love bugs on sale at the Happiness Centre

WE are very excited to announce The Happiness Centre has just taken delivery of 200 “love bugs” which will go on sale to raise money for a children’s hospice.

The brightly painted pebbles come in a variety of sizes, from tiny portable mementos, to large garden-dwellers or paperweights.

The pebbles have been painted in memory of 16-year old Kyle Rees from Bournemouth. Kyle’s story hit the national headlines in February after being fatally injured in a freak accident at school when he was hit with a cricket ball. Kyle’s mum, Tanya, is a close friend of Kimm’s daughter India, who has asked us to help in raising money in memory of her son.

Tanya collects the pebbles from the local beaches and hand paints each one into a lady bird. She has put many of the stones in her garden and calls them Kyle’s “rasta bugs”. She says that she can feel Kyle with her while she paints them and knows that he would be proud of how much money she has raised to help other young children. She said that she is overwhelmed by the response of people to the ladybirds and has already sold several hundred of them.

It is well-known that Kimm spends a lot of time on the beaches of Dorset collecting shells and heart-shaped stones from the beach, which many of you have been in receipt of. While Kimm has had many requests for more heart-stones, she has decided to bring back the love bugs instead. The pebbles are symbols of love and remembrance, and their brightness and colour is reflective of Kyle’s personality. Tanya hopes that the love bugs will bring a smile to people’s faces, just as Kyle did. She wants everyone to know about her “wonderful son” and wants to share the love that she will always have for him as well as reminding us all of how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken from us.

Tanya is donating all the money raised from the sale of the love bugs to Julia’s House, which is a hospice dedicated to caring for around 100 children (and their families) with life-limiting conditions.

Profits and funds raised by the Happiness Centre are spread throughout the world via Kimm’s Helping Hand Fund. Recipients include the on-going support and education of deprived children in Peru to sponsoring orphans in Nepal through the MySmallHelp charity to tennis lessons for a young local boy with cerebral palsy to the purchasing of a horse called Denzel for a disabled riding-group.

The love bugs are on sale from the Happiness Centre from £1 and Kimm is also asking for people to take more to sell to friends and family to help raise more funds and support Tanya who is using this project to help her through the tragedy of losing her son.

The intrepid explorer returns for a brief visit to Ilkley…

You may remember the Happiness Centre’s Journey Therapist, Louise Fennel, setting off for a cycle tour across Germany and Austria back in July, having given away most of her possessions. When she reached Graz in Austria, her heart felt called to stay. She is, however, back soon in Ilkley for a few days to run another of her fabulous Soul Journey retreats on Sun 13th Nov.
